Over twenty years ago I was suffering from a fibrous tumor. After spending most of my time at hospitals for observation, and so forth, I was informed that an operation was the only thing that could help me. The physician tried to reassure me, and said that while the operation was a serious one, being young I had everything in my favor.

I suffered such severe pain at times that I could not leave my bed, and had to have someone come in and take care of me. One day I felt I could go on no longer. I wished I could die, for I felt myself a burden to my family and believed that life held nothing for me. I expressed this thought to the one taking care of me. She very lovingly said to me: "Christian Science can help you, my dear. Would you like to try it?" She brought me several periodicals, which I read. Then I made an appointment with a Christian Science practitioner. I shall never forget that first visit. In the words of Scripture, I was "born again." I left the practitioner's home treading on air. Everything looked brighter, and life was indeed again becoming sweet. I was entirely healed in six treatments.

I did not realize at the time the many good things in store for me, for I was under the impression that Christian Science was applicable only to physical conditions. After becoming a student, I soon realized that this Science heals every wrong condition, mental, moral, and physical. Many healings followed: the overcoming of lack, and the realization, in a measure, of abundance; the joy of knowing that God's purpose for each one is good.
