To say that Christian Scientists "ignore" disease or evil...
Commercial Appeal
To say that Christian Scientists "ignore" disease or evil of any kind is as incorrect as to say that the teachers in our schools "ignore" ignorance. Education dispels ignorance, and thus reveals its unreal nature. If ignorance were a reality—an entity—no amount of education could destroy it. The truth about anything dissipates erroneous concepts, which thereupon vanish like the shadows of night before the rising sun. In like manner it should be plain that the evils which afflict mankind result from ignorance concerning God, good, and that a right understanding of Him annihilates all that is unlike good in our thinking.
In Genesis all creation is described as "very good," and in the first verse of the second chapter we read that this creation was "finished." In complete accord with this statement, Mary Baker Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 525), "Everything good or worthy, God made. Whatever is valueless or baneful, He did not make,—hence its unreality."
