Through Christian Science we learn that gratitude should play an important part in our lives. I am grateful to God for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and I am grateful to her for giving us Christian Science, because, through the teachings and application of the truth contained in the Bible, and explained in our textbook, Science and Health, "I know that my redeemer liveth."

I became interested in Christian Science about twenty years ago, after three prominent physicians had said that I should never be well until I had had a major operation. I was a wreck, both mentally and physically, and, having a great fear of hospitals and operations, I turned to Christian Science as a last resort. For over three months I had subsisted on tea and graham crackers, but after my first treatment I was able to take more substantial nourishment, without any ill effects. In a short time I was able to sleep normally again, and started taking an interest in my family and home.

Five years ago I had occasion to be grateful again for Christian Science. When a dear son passed on, it was truly the Comforter which Jesus said should come and abide with us forever. I could go on and on, saying that I am grateful for the many blessings which my children and I have received, but words are inadequate, and my daily prayer is that I shall be able, through the teaching and application of Christian Science, to live the truth.
