In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus admonishes, "Seek, and ye shall find." And Mrs. Eddy writes in her poem, "Mother's Evening Prayer" (Poems, p. 4):
"Seeking and finding, with the angels sing:
'Lo, I am with you alway,'—watch and pray."
Thirty years ago I was a semi-invalid. I had been treated by several physicians and surgeons, but "was nothing bettered," although they were most sincere in their efforts to help me. A Christian Science lecture was given in a small town five miles from my home, which was in the country. I could not go out much at that time, but when the weekly paper came I read the extract from the lecture which was published in it, and so became interested in Christian Science.
An old copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was lent to me until I could procure one of my own. This was in January; in February an annual illness of mine, tonsillitis, appeared. For a few days I tried to heal it by studying the textbook, but I was steeped in false theology and fear, so I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner for help, and was instantly healed. I got out of bed, put the house in order, and was filled with gratitude that I had found the healing truth which the Bible contains. That evening my brother telephoned for me to come to his house. I went two miles in an open buggy, through a snowstorm, and suffered no ill effects; I was up all that night ministering to my sister-in-law and the babe which was born. I have never had a return of tonsillitis. I soon became a member of The Mother Church and a worker in the local Christian Science Society.
In my years of study I have been able to prove, through many trials in business and illness, that God is with us. My daughter was healed of blood poisoning, and has been able to prove daily supply while obtaining a college education. I am very happy in my local church acitivities and daily study of the Bible and our Leader's writings, and the wonderful literature issued by The Christian Science Publishing Society, which is feeding a hungry world with "the bread of life."—(Mrs.) Flora Gray, University City, Missouri.
