One day I picked up a Christian Science Sentinel and read an article. The last sentence contained the statement, "All discord melts in the sunshine of God's presence." Immediately a severe sore throat, which I had tried for several days to overcome, was completely healed. I have not always experienced instantaneous healings, but whenever I have sincerely worked to solve my problems, by knowing that man is God's reflection, the demonstration has always been made.

I am very grateful to the friend who first mentioned Christian Science to me, and to the practitioners who have lovingly helped me. My first healing came very gradually, while I was reading our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and having many talks with a practitioner who lived near. I was recovering very slowly from an operation. The physician said that it would be years before I could expect to be well, and advised me to try Christian Science, saying that I might obtain some help from it, and, anyway, it could do no harm. After a few weeks of almost constant reading of the Bible and Science and Health, I went to the medicine cabinet, and, filling my apron with pills and bottles of liquids, I threw them all into the ash can. From that time there was steady improvement, and in less than six months I was able to do all the required work for my family, and was feeling stronger than I had ever felt before.

During the past twenty years Christian Science has many times proved to be a daily protection. In my family healings have been experienced of influenza, whooping cough, blood poisoning, measles, sprained ankles, rupture, malaria, low blood pressure, a severe case of scarlet fever—healed within four days—and many other difficulties. For these healings we are grateful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, who had so much patience and perseverance and love for mankind.
