"The good you do and embody"

To manifest strength and dominion is the desire of every right thinker. To use this strength and dominion for the accomplishment of genuinely worth-while things is also the desire of such a thinker. To do something actually helpful, not merely for oneself, but openheartedly for others, is the chief objective of each one who wants to go forward spiritually. In brief, to perform good works is the main ambition of the sincere toiler in the field of progressive endeavor.

The Christian Scientist is enlisted on the side of true activity, of consecrated service. Facing tasks of high importance and responsibility, he seeks to bring forth effective results; therefore, his duties involve practical demonstration of spiritual power. How can he realize this power? The answer is contained in Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 192 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "The good you do and embody gives you the only power obtainable." "The only power obtainable"! An arresting thought! And this power, our Leader assures us, comes solely through the good we do and express.

Good, in its essential or spiritual nature, is of God; and he who unselfishly does good is reflecting God, and works with Him. Because God, good, is omnipotent, it is plain that divine power alone animates and controls all that is in harmony with Deity: it endows with its own power that which is at one with God.
