Among the Churches

Current Notes

Wellsville Daily Reporter

Wellsville, New York (Society).—Their church property on North Main Street having been completely cleared of all indebtedness, Christian Science Society, Wellsville, held special dedication services on Sunday, November 19, 1939. It is a rule of the Christian Science denomination that no church or society can dedicate its edifice until all indebtedness has been liquidated. Services were held in the morning and afternoon, both being well attended. The First Reader read a brief history of the society:

Christian Science Society, Wellsville, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, was formed in January, 1926.

At first the Wednesday evening testimony meetings were held once a month. In 1927 the society began holding testimony meetings each week, and soon thereafter a Sunday school was established.
