Morning Guide

May I request the privilege of your columns to explain that Christian Science is not "mystical," but very practical, for it heals mentally and physically. This teaching dissolves the so-called mystery of death by proving the power of God, the power of good, to be supreme. It teaches that the Godlike man expresses the spiritual, the real and eternal life, here and now.

The recognition and enjoyment of this present spiritual life come in the degree of men's acceptance and acknowledgment of the Biblical fact of God's supremacy or all-power, as proclaimed in the First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." God is Spirit, and in Genesis 1:27 it is stated that "God created man in his own image;" therefore, man is spiritual.

In 1904, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, counseled her students: "Dare to be faithful to God and man. Let the creature become one with his creator, and mysticism departs, heaven openes, right reigns, and you have begun to be a Christian Scientist" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, pp. 253, 254).
