In commenting on the pension question, your usually erudite Washington correspondent made the following statement: "Sometimes it appears that there are those who welcome criticism of the growth of the pension evil because it affords an opportunity to write a letter to the paper in defense of pensions. It is almost as dangerous to mention pensions adversely as it is to refer to Christian Science."
