For more than nineteen years I have been receiving the benefits of the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals. But procrastination has kept me from giving my own experiences.

Christian Science was brought to my attention by a neighbor, who, seeing my need, spoke to me of the healing truth. She quoted the Scriptural words, "Let there be light," emphasizing the word "let," for, she said, we must let the light of Truth into our lives. I was so deeply buried in materiality that it was difficult for me to believe that anything mental could solve my problems. However, I listened, though with an argumentative thought. I still marvel at her patience and wisdom. She did not urge me to give up my doctor or throw away the medicine, but she spoke the words of Truth that opened my eyes and led me to search for myself.

One day, shortly after I started reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, our small son came in from playing with the neighbor's child and said, "God is Life and Truth and Love"—words that I had been thinking about a great deal. He was four years old, and had been under the doctor's care ever since his birth. Suddenly I thought of the Biblical prophecy, "A little child shall lead them," and I gave him his dinner without the usual accompanying dose of medicine. He has had none since, and is now a fine, healthy young man.
