Christian Science came to me as a delivering angel in the darkest hour of my life. I was then suffering from mental derangement, which was considered to be inherited, for my father and several of his brothers and sisters had suffered from it. One of my brothers also had been pronounced incurably insane. In the moments when I could think, I longed for death as a deliverance. One day a laborer, who had to do some work in our house, spoke of Christian Science, and expressed the opinion that it might help me. Subsequently, a self-sacrificing Christian Scientist gave me treatment. He explained to me that man is spiritual and perfect. I held firmly to this truth and was daily comforted by it. Within two weeks I was healed. This healing took place over eighteen years ago. Since then I have enjoyed excellent health and happy, uninterrupted activity in a profession. The teachings of Christian Science enabled me to keep and bring up my two children. I have proved the truth of the words of our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."

My elder daughter also received a healing through Christian Science. She came home very ill, and was so weak that she could no longer walk by herself. I then asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, and relied entirely on God's healing power. In ten days my daughter was restored, and, to the amazement of all who had seen her ill, she was able in two weeks to take up her work once more.

For these healings, and especially for the understanding Christian Science gives us that God is the Father-Mother of all, I am deeply grateful to God. The Christian Science church services are a blessing to me, and I am happy over the privilege of being a member of The Mother Church. I am very grateful to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving with unselfed love these teachings to the world, and I thank God for having led me to them.—(Mrs.) Elise Zurschmiede-Michel, Wilderswil b.
