I am deeply grateful for the many blessings which I have received during my study of Christian Science. The most outstanding of the physical healings are those of defective sight, aching feet, and the complete overcoming of the smoking and drinking habits.
I used glasses for over thirty-five years for reading and writing, and about nine years ago my sight became so bad that when I was walking I could not distinguish the end of the pavement from the roadway, which made it very difficult for me to cross the road. I rejoice to say that I can now read and write quite freely without the aid of glasses. One day I was sitting in a practitioner's waiting room, reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. When the practitioner was ready to see me, I closed the book and raised my hand to take off my glasses as usual, but found to my utter astonishment that I had not used them and had read for a quarter of an hour without glasses. It is impossible to describe the joy and gratitude which I felt, and I have not used glasses since that day. This experience also helped to free me in many ways from the beliefs attached to old age. I can see better than I could when I was thirty-five.
At one time I suffered terribly with my feet, and sometimes it was agony for me to walk about. I cannot remember when the healing took place, but my feet are quite well now, and I enjoy long walks, sometimes for several miles.
