My attention has been called to a report of lecture, in a recent issue of your paper, wherein reference is made to Christian Science. While appreciating the lecturer's kindly, unbiased statements concerning this religion, may I be permitted to call your attention to certain observations in the report regarding Christian Science that might possibly create a false impression.

The Christian Science church was chartered in 1879, thirteen years after Mrs. Eddy discovered Christian Science. To become a member of a Christian Science church one should have successfully demonstrated, to some extent, his ability in applying divine law to the overcoming of sin, sickness, and inharmony in his daily experiences.

As to the preachers, "the Bible and the Christian Science textbook are our only preachers" (Christian Science Quarterly, p. ii). Readers in branch churches are elected by the church members, and as a rule remuneration for their loving services.
