Life Harmonious

MANKIND has been, and still is, struggling to evolve ways and means for permanently bettering its condition physically and financially. This is a legitimate problem, but if approached from a purely material outlook it will continue to be unsolved. Each one is enabled to overcome the inharmony of corporeal sense only by mentally applying the truth that Life is God, divine Mind, and that man lives wholly in God, Spirit, good. This eternal, changeless truth is clearly stated in the New Testament: "In him we live, and move, and have our being. . . . For we are also his offspring." The gaining of the spiritual sense of existence is the true way to the demonstration of permanent harmony, health, peace, and prosperity.

In the first chapter of Genesis we have the spiritual record of God's creation, in which all that is made is wholly spiritual, good, permanent. In the second chapter of Genesis an opposite sense of creation is presented. A false sense of life is introduced, first as a mist, then as a deep sleep which fell upon Adam. Ever since the dream of false material sense began to seem real, mankind has believed that it must materially struggle against sin, fear, lack, disease, death. To mortal sense, confusion, turmoil, sin, poverty, unemployment, have seemed to be constantly experienced. But the persistent sense of distress is simply an illusion of mortal mind, a dream of physical sense which the spiritual understanding of God, Truth, destroys. Man, as the image and likeness of God, Truth, must, logically, reflect Life, Spirit, Love, and ever manifest harmony, health, abundance, happiness. As, through Christian Science, we gain this knowledge of Truth, we have the key with which to solve all our physical, moral, and financial problems.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 495): "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious—as Life eternally is—can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not." The great numbers who are studying Christian Science and faithfully applying its teachings, are demonstrating in constantly progressive steps the everpresence of God as Life, Truth, Love. This correct spiritual consciousness of existence is made manifest in better health, more harmonious homes, more successful business activities, greater peace and prosperity. This proof of the truth is accomplished in accordance with divine Principle, infinite Love, which is constantly supplying every need of man.
