I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science,...
I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science, which I regard as the greatest blessing that has ever come into my life. When I first took up the study of this wonderful religion, more than twenty-five years ago, I was facing a great trial, and Christian Science was recommended to me by a neighbor. I borrowed the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from a friend, since there was no Reading Room in the town in which I then lived. The contents of the book did not appeal to me at the first reading, but after I attended a Christian Science lecture my interest was newly awakened, and on the second perusal of the book, some of its beauty was revealed to me. At that time my five children were of school age, and while reading Science and Health I was at once healed of my bondage to so-called health laws. I had no more fear of what they should eat or drink, or any anxiety about their being properly clothed in order to protect their health. And what a relief that was! From that time on, all through their childhood, we had no need of doctors' visits or of material remedies.
Christian Science sustained me and healed me of grief when my husband passed on.
Although at times we have been seemingly faced by poverty, our material needs have always been supplied.
