What Have I to Offer?

[Written Especially for Young People]

IT is generally admitted that one must give if one would receive. Therefore, the individual seeking employment should certainly ask himself, What have I to offer? Many times young people have found that although they may have had some special training, they have not been able to meet certain demands. Others have found that their education and training have fitted them for some definite position. In either case, what should be the mental attitude of the student of Christian Science?

One ought to be grateful to have had educational advantages. Nevertheless, he should not feel that ability to give service is derived alone from educational experience. Nor should one cherish discouragement if he has not had the education or training that might be humanly desired. Rather, in both cases, it should be understood that the real man possesses by reflection all the qualities of God, Mind.

As one learns in Christian Science of his sonship with God, he learns to identify his nature with the divine, and to see that all true ability comes from infinite Mind. Such reasoning and understanding will free the individual from what mortal mind designates as human limitations. With Truth as the basis of all right thinking and activity, the Christian Scientist may consider what he has to offer to an employer, to his fellow workers, and to the world.
