"Every scientific statement in Christianity has its proof"

Speaking "to those Jews which believed on him," Jesus said (John 8:31, 32), "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The Master spoke with certainty; for had he not proved on numerous occasions the power of spiritual understanding to destroy the false beliefs of mortals — to heal disease, overcome sin, and annul so-called material law even to the raising of the dead? And as he did these things, thus proving his knowledge of spiritual law, he instructed his followers in the truth which he demonstrated, and at the same time sought to impart to them his own conviction of its availability and power.

Many instances could be cited of this. Luke, for example, records that when Jesus sent the seventy "into every city and place," to heal the sick and assure them that the kingdom of God was come nigh unto them, he declared (Luke 10:19). "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Thus, those who understood his teachings were to be immune from evil. They should do as he did — heal the sick and the sinning. He went even further, for as John records he said (John 8:51), "Verily, verily, I say unto you. If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death." implying that this would be possible for his followers. Here indeed was a pronouncement which might be expected to stir up skepticism and provoke to ridicule those who did not understand the spiritual truths he taught. But Jesus gave proof of what he taught, for he raised the dead and for himself overcame the belief of death

Christian Science leaves the student in no doubt as to the reliability of Jesus' teachings, since it shows him how the Master wrought his marvels. It actually reveals to the student the understanding which Jesus possessed, understanding which enables him to do in a measure what Jesus did. The sick and sinning are being healed today through Christian Science treatment based upon the knowledge which Jesus possessed that, in the light of the truth of God's allness, nothing unlike good exists as reality. God is infinite good. Sickness is false belief; sin is false belief. Sickness and sin are without a real cause, and are, therefore, not real effects. This is a Christianly scientific statement; and because it is. it can be proved in the healing of disease and the overcoming of sin.
