"The issues from death"

With knowledge true of God the Master saidTo one who sought his aid, "Be not afraid."Then coming to the ruler's house, he madeThe minstrels all give place. The wailers fledAs he approached the couch where lay the dead.Aware of ever-present Life, he prayed,And at the word "Arise," the maid obeyed,While he commanded she be given bread.

If earth's dark shadow we too would destroy,Down kindly paths like Jesus, let us go,Christ's love and sweet compassion there to know;In living, prove the nothingness of sin,That we each day may better enter inAnd manifest eternal power and joy.
