My gratitude for Christian Science begins with a wonderful healing of a member of my family more than thirty years ago, and it extends throughout my life to this day. The healing referred to was the deliverance of my dear husband from the bondage of the drink habit, and his complete restoration to a life of usefulness and happiness; it was instantaneous and permanent and was never doubted for a moment by him or by his family.

At the time this occurred our eldest daughter was ill, and the physician had said that she was afflicted with tubercular peritonitis, the result of an operation for appendicitis which she had undergone the previous year. With our new-found faith in God we sought help for her from a practitioner, and after two weeks of Christian Science treatment she was healed and was able to return to high school and complete her course. This healing too was permanent.

These two healings not only brought us great joy and happiness, but changed the whole course of our lives and caused us to realize that Christian Science was the most precious and the most-to-be-desired thing in the world. We began at once to attend the church services regularly, to study Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and the Lesson-Sermons as given in the Christian Science Quarterly; and our four children were enrolled in the Sunday school. We placed our entire reliance upon Christian Science for everything, and not in vain, for at once conditions improved, and we once more had a happy home, in which all our problems were worked out in accordance with its teachings.
