Sunday School Notes and Comments

Our Leader sets forth briefly in the Church Manual what the first lessons of the children in the Sunday school should be, and states that "the next lessons consist of such questions and answers as are adapted to a juvenile class, and may be found in the Christian Science Quarterly Lessons, read in Church services" (Art. XX, Sect. 3).

The Church Manual provides that "the Sabbath School children shall be taught the Scriptures, and they shall be instructed according to their understanding or ability to grasp the simpler meanings of the divine Principle that they are taught" (Art. XX, Sect. 2). Accordingly, to give the main part of the time to reading through, or having the pupils read through, the Lesson-Sermon does not of itself fulfill the Manual requirement of teaching through questions and answers.
