I should like to express my great gratitude for Christian Science

I should like to express my great gratitude for Christian Science.

Long ago I went regularly to church and to Bible lesson classes. I tried to find an answer to my questions, but after many earnest attempts I thought I would not go to church any more.

In our family we had periodic sickness; and I often made myself unhappy, in spite of propitious circumstances. I thought that it was I who was responsible for the health and happiness of our children; and the world's misery seemed very oppressive. Then someone very dear to me wrote to me from a distant country saying how thankful he was for Christian Science. I wanted to know what it was that made him so happy. The textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, had been in our house for a long time, so I took it out of the bookcase and started to read. I read the book for weeks, investigating its statements. I did not approach it in the right spirit of humility, however, so I sometimes objected, sometimes rebelled, sometimes was haughtily critical; but all the time the book was blessing me. In little accidents, the children were marvelously protected. I did not know then that there were Christian Science churches, societies, or practitioners in our country.
