The statement by a clergyman, as quoted in a recent issue under the caption "Irreligion," that "Christian Science is neither Christian nor Science," only serves to illustrate that the gentleman is not sufficiently informed to discuss such an important subject intelligently. Space in your publication is respectfully requested to reply for the benefit of your many interested readers.

That Christian Science is both Christian and scientific, indeed, the very acme of Science and veritable crown of Christianity, and is reinstating "primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing" (Church Manual, p. 17), is fully borne out in testimonies of physical healings, and moral and spiritual regeneration. Thousands from every walk of life are giving such testimonies in the Christian Science churches throughout the world at the regular Wednesday evening meetings. Similar testimonies are carried in the weekly and monthly periodicals printed by The Christian Science Publishing Society. One hundred pages of testimonies are recorded in the final chapter in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, of healings resulting from the reading and study of the textbook.

Today a crying out for God, as in the language of Job, "Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!" is coming from many quarters. And in response His voice is being heard by many a heart. Christian Scientists are grateful that in the aforesaid Christian Science textbook, they truly have a "key" to the Scriptures, as its name implies, which has made the Bible a veritable wellspring of living water. On page 224 its author states: "A higher and more practical Christianity, demonstrating justice and meeting the needs of mortals in sickness and in health, stands at the door of this age, knocking for admission. Will you open or close the door upon this angel visitant, who cometh in the quiet of meekness, as he came of old to the patriarch at noonday?"
