I am especially grateful to Mary Baker Eddy for her untiring efforts in giving to the world "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which, when studied faithfully and prayerfully, meets all human needs.
Christian Science is making me more grateful every day for the statement (ibid., p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care." To many people, trials are sufferings to be feared, or looked upon as punishment for wrongdoing. To me, trials are opportunities to use Christian Science, which reveals the nature of God and of man's relationship to Him. Knowing something of God and of His creation, man, we overcome the false beliefs of sin, sickness, and death. As we earnestly and prayerfully study Christian Science, we always gain the solution to our problems. I find that after I have rightly met a trial I am more faithful and prayerful, and more grateful for my brother man and for all things.
One of my first demonstrations came over two years ago, when our son was eighteen months old. As we were returning from a trip, he became very ill and lost consciousness. We were frightened, but tried to know the truth. By the time we arrived home he had recovered; but we still felt apprehensive, and telephoned to a practitioner. The child slept all night, but in the morning had another attack. My wife, who was very much frightened, called the practitioner. Help was lovingly given, and in a short time the child was completely healed. Bronchial trouble, impetigo, bee sting, burns, colds, and fear of contagion have been overcome with a practitioner's help through the study of Science and Health. I am indeed very grateful for the loving help of the practitioner, when we have been in need of spiritual enlightenment.
