An article published in L'Ordre recently, referring to Christian Science and to Mary Baker Eddy, is brought to my attention and motivates my calling on your courteousness for the insertion in your newspaper of the following remarks: Christian Science is not a quasireligious movement. It is a distinctly religious movement, in the sense given by Littre to the word "religion," as "an ensemble of doctrines and practices which constitutes the relation of man with the divine power."

The term scientisme does not apply to Christian Science. Wherever this term is so used, it is by mistake.

The teachings of Christian Science rest unreservedly on the Bible. Only a patient, continuous, and deep study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, enables one to gain a correct understanding of them. This book is available to all, as it can be found in any of the eighty-one public libraries of the Parisian region and in those of many provincial cities.
