Jesus said, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on...

Jesus said, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

I have proved this promise to be true through the following experience. One night, while walking to church, I stubbed my toe and was thrown to the pavement. I corrected my thought and dismissed the incident, until five days afterward, when the foot became discolored to the ankle and the top of the foot and the big toe were affected with gangrene, while the sole of the foot was covered with infection.

Because a member of my household is not a Christian Scientist, the practitioner asked me if I was ready and willing to take my stand unreservedly for Christian Science. This I agreed to do, since I knew a surgeon might possibly advise removing the foot. From the time treatments were begun, pain was entirely eliminated, and each night I slept peacefully, all unconscious of the conflict going on. The poisonous condition, however, continued, the manifestation at times being worse, although the infection did not spread any farther.
