It is with a deep sense of gratitude and humility that I relate some of the healings which I have experienced through the study and application of Christian Science. I was healed instantaneously of a severe attack of tonsillitis; a healing of scarlatina was accomplished overnight; a healing of influenza was effected in about twenty minutes with the help of a Christian Science practitioner and our little daughter. Glass was removed from my eye without any material aid, after a few hours, during which time I suffered no pain and those around me knew nothing about it. With the aid of a practitioner, conditions were very harmonious when my last two children were born. There have also been healings of resentment, hate, fear, and impatience.

The stories of healing in the Bible have been a great inspiration to me. Jesus healed by knowing the truth about God and man. There was no time needed for convalescence; the healing was immediate. Christian Science teaches the same method. Two statements from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy have been indispensable to me: "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak 'as one having authority'" (p. 14); and, "God will heal the sick through man, whenever man is governed by God" (p. 495). I am grateful that Christian Science teaches that all error can be healed, and that the truth can be applied to sin in the same manner as to disease. It was no more difficult for Jesus to say, "Take up thy bed, and walk," than it was to say, "Go, and sin no more."

Words cannot express my gratitude for the Christian Science Sunday School, where our four children have been taught absolute Christian Science—reliance on divine Mind at all times and under all circumstances. Two healings experienced by one little daughter are outstanding. A large lump on her throat vanished after help was given by a practitioner, for through this help I was able to cast out all thoughts of material cause and effect, and to replace them with the positive truth that God, good, is the only cause, and that there can be no effect but good. The skin was not broken and there was no discharge. The baby was not cross or fretful at any time, although to material sense a very painful condition existed. The other healing was that of frequently appearing sties. A practitioner made the statement that the child was under no material law; and after I had dwelt on God's perfect law and the definition of "eyes," as given by Mrs. Eddy on page 586 of Science and Health, the sties disappeared and the healing has been permanent. This child, who is now eight years old, has been beautifully protected. She has had only two so-called contagious diseases, which were quickly healed in Christian Science. The other children in the family have received healings of measles, mumps, scarlet fever, kidney trouble, influenza, whooping cough, intestinal influenza, constipation, and earache.
