In an interesting article a clergyman speaks in a kindly way of the many successes which Christian Science has had in the healing of sickness and suffering, but his remarks show that he has not really understood the nature of Christian Science healing. I should therefore be glad if you would give me a little space to explain this healing.

Christian Science healing has nothing to do with the imagination or the merely human mind as the clergyman implies. Healing in Christian Science is done, as was that of Christ Jesus, through the realization of the omnipresence and omnipotence of God. It was through his recognition of the ever-presence of his infinitely loving and all-powerful Father that Christ Jesus mastered every difficulty, triumphed over every attack, and finally rose above even death itself. Through the same understanding of the omnipresence of God, or perfect good, he accomplished every healing which he performed, and it is on this basis alone that every healing in Christian Science takes place.

The first sentence in the first chapter of Mrs. Eddy's book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," reads, "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love."
