A Young student of Christian Science went to her mother one day greatly disturbed because her hands and arms were covered with a rash.

"Just look at my hands," she said. "I have known the truth about this condition for days, but it doesn't do any good. Just look at them!"

"Why should I look at your hands?" gently asked the mother. "If you were to come to me with the statement that four and four is nine, I should not want to examine your vocal organs to see why you made such a statement. I should know that you were in error about a mathematical fact, and that I could help you only by showing you the truth, namely, that four and four is eight. As soon as you knew the true mathematical fact, you could no longer suffer from a mistaken belief about four and four."
