Christian Science has brought so many blessings into...

Christian Science has brought so many blessings into my experience that I should like to express in some measure my gratitude to God for these blessings.

When I was a soloist in the local branch church, over four years ago, I had the following experience. One Sunday morning I awoke with a big lump in my throat and noticed that my voice had completely gone. My first thought was to telephone to my substitute and ask her to replace me at the service, but after a moment of prayer and listening to the voice of God, I realized the truth about God and man; then the thought came: Do not be afraid. God will take care of both the message and its messenger. When I left home for church the demonstration of freedom was not made, but all the way there I was declaring with absolute confidence that evil had no power, that God, good, was the only power and protection, and that the love of God would overthrow any apparent obstruction.

The rehearsal, which took place just a little while before the service began, was far from perfect, but I am glad to say that the organist did not appear to notice anything amiss, for I had taken good care not to voice the lie. After the rehearsal, I went to the soloist's room for fifteen minutes before the service began, then opened a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and read the following statement (p. 428): "To divest thought of false trusts and material evidences in order that the spiritual facts of being may appear,—this is the great attainment by means of which we shall sweep away the false and give place to the true."
