Volksstimme von Baselland

In a recent issue Christian Science was mentioned, and the statement was made that according to Christian Science teaching, sickness was "an imagination devoid of all reality." Another declaration said that what we most urgently need is not "Gesundbeter" [prayer-healers], which evidently implies adherents of Christian Science.

So the article seems to take an unfriendly attitude toward this teaching. On the other hand, however, its statements coincide in a degree with the teachings of Christian Science. If refers to a passage in the ninth chapter of Matthew, which treats of the healing of a man sick of the palsy. This very passage is the one which in a dark hour brought illumination and healing to Mary Baker Eddy, resulting in her discovery of Christian Science. Certainly, the first step is the reform brought about through the coming of Christ to the human consciousness. This results in the "signs following," which Jesus promised his followers.
