Today

I will live a quiet life today,
Sincere, serene, and fine;
I will exclude impotent thoughts,
And hear the voice divine.

In quiet I will search for Truth,
Which is the daily bread
The followers of Christ must have
If properly they're fed.

In holy silence I will sit
Till charity I know;
'Twere better far no words at all—
Till love can through them flow.

With diligence I hope to serve
My God-appointed task.
For wisdom, trust, and childlike faith,
Humbly today I ask.
