The Laborer and His Hire

Healings of all manner of disease have taken place through the spiritual understanding which Christian Science gives. Even so-called incurable diseases have yielded to the power of Truth and Love. So numerous have been the healings of sin and disease and the overcoming of other serious difficulties incidental to a material sense of existence, that the method of healing by spiritual means—the Christian Science method—has come to be very generally recognized and acknowledged.

It is noteworthy that while many healings have resulted from the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, many have also been brought about by Christian Science treatment, that is, the treatment given by practitioners of Christian Science. This is common knowledge. And it is significant that today over eleven thousand names of those who have been approved by The Christian Science Board of Directors as public practitioners of Christian Science, are listed in The Christian Science Journal.

These practitioners are devoting themselves to the practice of Christian Science healing. Indeed, with the exception of those engaged in an official capacity in connection with the activities of The Mother Church, all whose names are listed in the Journal must be giving their entire time to Christian Science practice. This means that throughout the world there are a large number of Christian Scientists—and it is constantly becoming larger—who are devoting themselves to the service of their fellow men, ever ready to respond to the sincere call for help, lovingly and patiently—a faithful, consecrated body of people.
