Leading and Following

Leading implies following; and the fitness of a genuine leader is measured by his willingness to follow divine Principle, God, in all his undertakings.

Those individuals are best fitted to lead humanity to higher ideals and more practical human freedom who have demonstrated in their own experience Godlike qualities, such as meekness, strength, charity, humility, unselfed love, and wisdom, thus proving themselves followers of that which is pure, true, and of good report.

Self-love, self-will, egotism, dishonesty, envy, strife—these characterize blind leading and apathetic following. It was to such errors that Jesus referred when he said, "And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."
