Among the Churches

Current Notes

Los Angeles, California (Sixth Church).—Dedication services for Sixth Church of Christ, Scientist, were conducted on Sunday, November 14, 1937, in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

Organized in 1911 to take care of the overflowing attendance at Third Church of Christ, Scientist, the church held services in December, 1917, in a building at Forty-second and Wadsworth Streets. This edifice was sold in 1924, and from then until the middle of 1928 services were held in a brick building on Moneta Avenue.

After careful consideration two lots were purchased at the corner of Flower and Forty-second Streets. Building operations were begun, and the completed church opened on July 1, 1928, with a seating capacity of eight hundred and twenty, which can be increased to about one thousand for lectures by opening committee rooms and placing extra chairs.
