Wholly Rich

Is a man rich or poor? Is he sick or well? Is he good or is he not good? These queries, arising in the thought of mankind, relate to the human status, economically, physically, morally. From the human standpoint it would appear that if a man is rich in a monetary way, sound in physical health, and obedient to the moral standards of mortals, he is indeed fortunate, and little more can be desired for him.

In this connection it is inspiring to turn our attention to Christ Jesus, whose ministry revealed the spiritual nature of man in God's likeness, and who gave to men the divine rules for right living.

All Christians acknowledge Christ Jesus to be their Way-shower, but many are apt to conclude erroneously that his teaching is only in part applicable to present-day needs. Those calling themselves Christians generally regard his words as helpful to them in their efforts to maintain Christian poise. But the tendency is to look upon his mighty works as hardly possible of acceptance for us today, since this would demand very much of mankind—even the rejection of material means for overcoming disease, sin, and poverty.
