Some time ago I read an article in one of our periodicals entitled "Awareness of God." The writer stressed the point that no matter how small or how big the task, we should always do it to the glory of God and never cease to be aware of His presence.

I began to hark back in my thoughts to the time when I was not aware of God, and how dark the way had seemed! I was a semi-invalid suffering from heart trouble, acute dyspepsia, bad headaches, and many other troubles; and when one day the doctor gently told me he felt nothing more could be done for me, but that I should go on from bad to worse, I was in despair. It seemed incredible to me that all my hope could be destroyed in this way; but wherever I turned there seemed no escape for me.

One night I began thinking of religion. I had previously scoffed at it, but if any comfort could be derived from it I felt I must have it, and I prayed for faith. Mary Baker Eddy says, "Desire is prayer" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 1), and it was so in my case, for shortly after this I heard of Christian Science. Never can I forget the joy and uplifting I experienced at this wonderful revelation of the truth; it proved indeed "a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Through the teachings of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I became more aware of God, and many healings and blessings followed. This introduction to Christian Science was over twenty-six years ago. Since then I have led an active life, have received class instruction, am a member of The Mother Church and welcome the opportunity of serving in the branch church to which I belong.
