The Christ-Way

O troubled heart, cease fret, and toil, and struggle—
The joys, long sought, are e'en now at thy side;
For God, the source of all, is ever with thee,
And will, through all eternity, abide.

All unlike good is but a somber shadow
That love, reflected, dissipates in light;
And what seemed once a drear and rugged pathway,
Becomes, each upward step, more smooth and bright.

For unselfed love brings peace and rest—contentment—
Treasures untold in earth, and sky, and sea.
Delay not—take the Christ-way, and forever
Happy and satisfied thou then shalt be.
