We are taught in Christian Science that God is supreme,...

We are taught in Christian Science that God is supreme, ever present, and all-powerful to help and to heal all difficulties and sin. For a beginner in this Science it is sometimes difficult to grasp the full meaning of this statement, and the significance of the healing evidence is lost for the time being.

I have been fortunate in having evidence and proof of healing in Christian Science in two separate instances. In the first, I had broken a bone in the right foot. The physician put the leg in a plaster cast extending to the knee. At the end of six weeks he removed the cast, but I was unable to walk. He said that the circulation had been checked and that it would be all right in about ten days if I had the leg massaged every day. I had been told of Christian Science healing, but had never attended the church. Anxious to resume business I said, "Let us try Christian Science." A practitioner was called, and assured me that I could walk. I tried again and, behold, there was no pain or difficulty. I was instantly healed and returned to business, and I have never been troubled since.

Business absorbed my attention, and when I thought of Christian Science error suggested that possibly I had not tried hard enough to walk. Several months after this experience, a friend who was coming to call on us, in getting off a street car, broke one of the fine bones in the ankle. She managed to get to our home, and the same physician put the limb in a plaster cast. At the end of six weeks when the cast was removed she could not walk. We saw her frequently, and it was fully five months before she stopped complaining of the pain which attended the resumption of the checked circulation.
