Christian Science was presented to me by a beloved friend, a student of Christian Science.

A medical diagnosis told me that I was partially paralyzed, due to a severe kidney disorder, following measles and childbirth. Many physicians were consulted, and all said that my condition could not be remedied. It became necessary to support myself and my three children. The opportunity to do so presented itself, but I was afraid to exert myself because of warnings from the doctors.

A loving Christian Scientist told me that this belief was unreal, and it was proved to me by a passage from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 385): "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself." This was just what I had been longing to know.
