Reports to this office regarding a broadcast over radio station CFCN are to the effect that a speaker declared Christian Science to be antichrist, and that Christian Scientists deny the virgin birth of Jesus. I understand these misstatements of the truth were in reference to the Apostle John's definition of the "spirit of antichrist."

Christian Science is entirely in accord with the Apostle's requirement, for it not only acknowledges "that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh" but gives a clear and Christian explanation of his advent as recorded in the Bible. On page 29 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the following quotation will quickly enable your readers to see how truly Christian Science is in accord with the Scriptures: "The illumination of Mary's spiritual sense put to silence material law and its order of generation, and brought forth her child by the revelation of Truth, demonstrating God as the Father of men. The Holy Ghost, or Divine Spirit, overshadowed the pure sense of the Virgin-mother with the full recognition that being is Spirit." And again: "Jesus was the offspring of Mary's self-conscious communion with God."

I am sure your readers will agree this is pre-eminently Christian, and the plainest acknowledgment of the Scriptural teaching, as indeed all of Christian Science is.
