"This white sanctuary"

When Mrs. Eddy established The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, she envisaged a world-wide membership, actively engaged in loving, doing good, speaking the truth, obeying divine Principle, making Christ known in all the earth through healing works. Today, when her vision is being measurably realized by students of Christian Science in the healing of sickness and sin, in turning sadness into joy, lack into abundance, additional human ways and means necessary for the advancement of the Cause of Christian Science are rapidly unfolding. A larger Publishing House has been built to facilitate the publication and circulation of the Christian Science periodicals, including the publications which are translated into foreign languages, all of which proclaim the gospel, "On earth peace, good will toward men." The Christian Science Monitor, the international daily newspaper of the denomination, is carrying throughout the world its glorious message of good will in the daily news.

This hour of the greatest publicity and material prosperity of the Church's history is a challenge to every student of Christian Science to watch and pray more earnestly than ever before that he may not lose sight of the sacred promise to which he subscribed on becoming a member of The Mother Church (Church Manual, p. 16): "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure."

Proportionately as he strives to fulfill this requirement of church membership, the student of Christian Science learns more deeply to adore the ever-present God, the all-seeing, all-knowing Mind. And the outgrowth of this adoration is a better understanding of the true idea, man, made in God's likeness, boundless, free, reflecting God's dominion over all the earth. As he heeds Mrs. Eddy's statement (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 104), "I will gain a balance on the side of good, my true being. This alone gives me the forces of God wherewith to overcome all error," he finds that these moral and spiritual forces are forever available to the right thinker and worker.
