In the Erin Advocate of the 16th there appeared from "A Lover of the Book" another article in criticism of Christian Science.

Because a Christian Scientist, when experiencing a serious illness, did not rely on medical treatment and passed on, the critic has condemned that religion. If the Christian Scientist had been the only one to pass on, while all those who depended upon medical treatment had recovered, the criticism might have been valid, but the mortality records reveal that many individuals, who depend exclusively upon medical attention, pass on each year from the same disease. Justice in the consideration of such matters demands that Christian Science, or any other curative method, be judged on the fullness of its work rather than on an isolated case, the exact circumstances of which may be obscure.

Because Christian Science is meeting humanity's need by healing the sick and reforming the sinner, it is growing. Doctors, after seeing that individuals who had exhausted the resources of medicine and surgery were finally restored through Christian Science, have embraced its teachings and finally become Christian Science practitioners.
