I am very grateful that I have found a religion which has, for the last twenty-two years, met my every need. I have had innumerable healings and blessings during this time and have found an inner peace which can never be taken away from me.

My first healing came when I was still quite young in Science. My son, a violinist, took me to the beach where he had some business, and I stayed there several days with him. It was winter, but he went swimming with his friends, while I sat on a bench doing some fine crocheting. Soon, however, I had to give up this work, for my hands got too cold. I put the fine crochet hook and the thread into my coat pocket, so that I could watch the young people better. But soon I felt a terrible pain, and found that the crochet hook was sticking into my hip. I tried to take it out, but the more I tried the deeper it penetrated into the flesh. My son, who is opposed to this Science, was far out in the water, and in my despair I called out, "God, help me, right away, I need Thee!" Then I fainted. How long I was there I do not know. When I came to myself, I saw the young people coming out of the water, and there lay the crochet hook on the sand, not even bent. I must have looked very ill, for my son called out to me, "For heaven's sake, what has happened to you?" I replied, "I am so happy, all is well, just take me home." He could not understand what I meant, and I could not explain it to him.

I should like to tell of another wonderful healing. I had had to wear a shoe with a cork sole and a high heel for almost fifty years, because my right leg was two to three inches shorter than the left. My shoemaker here had passed on, and for weeks I had been looking for another who could make me such shoes. One day, after much prayer, I went into one of our best shoe shops to inquire if they had such a man. The saleslady looked at my heavy shoe and said, "You do not need to wear such a shoe." I looked at her much surprised, and immediately realized that she must be a Christian Scientist. I tried on a pair of shoes. Then she told me to take a few steps, but I fell down. She said, "Don't be afraid, with God everything is possible," and I believed her. I went away from that store with ready-made shoes. I thanked God and went home on foot, wearing them. Since then I have always worn ready-made shoes, and my leg is now hardly a third of an inch shorter than the other. On page 162 of Science and Health our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in telling us of the results of Christian Science practice, says that "the structure has been renewed, shortened limbs have been elongated." I can confirm this statement with joy and gratitude from my own experience.
