The editorial in your issue of August 5 entitled "Biblical Foolishness," commenting adversely on the recommendation of the state education board that $500,000 be spent in providing every Georgia school student with a copy of the Bible, was read with a great deal of interest and, for the most part, with approbation.

However, your statement that "the Christian Scientist uses the Bible more as a commentary with the writings of Mary Baker Eddy" is misleading; and for the benefit of your readers may I ask space in your columns for a few remarks?

Christian Scientists do not consider the Bible as a commentary to be used with the writings of Mary Baker Eddy; rather, the reverse is the case. Mrs. Eddy's major work, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," is, as its title indicates, a commentary on the Bible, a "key" unlocking its spiritual meaning and making its healing truths and promises understandable and applicable to the present needs of mankind.
