Until I became twenty years of age, time not infrequently...

Until I became twenty years of age, time not infrequently hung heavily on my hands. At that point, however, Christian Science was brought to my attention and I began to study it. During the past twenty-five years it has given me plenty to think about and do. While I have found it no path of roses, still I would not exchange my career as a Christian Scientist for anything else in the world.

Christian Science is indeed the truth. It has brought to me a peace of mind and assurance of present and ultimate well-being that could not possibly have been obtained in any other way. It has healed me of many physical ailments and discords. It has helped us in our home, and in the rearing of our son. It has healed me of the tobacco habit of many years' standing, so that for the past eleven years I have had no desire for nicotine.

I find that my daily work as a Christian Scientist is to learn of the laws of God, and as fast as I learn them, to let them govern me. This I find can be done only through obedience to them. Thus I am working out a permanent sense of harmony through a constant growth in spiritual understanding, which I interpret to be government by divine Principle.
