I am very grateful to be able to give the testimony of my healing through Christian Science. I was given up by the doctors as incurable. I had been an invalid for sixteen years, and had spent most of the time in bed with a tubercular knee and other ailments. I was also suffering from rectal fistulae, which had been operated on ten years before but had not healed. I was suffering too from chronic appendicitis; also from a form of dyspepsia believed to be incurable, and chronic constipation and piles. My throat and tonsils were in a very bad state, often apparently causing tubercular glands in the neck. I had defective eyesight, had worn glasses for twenty years, and my sight was getting worse. My heart was in a bad state. Then a growth formed internally, stopping the functioning of the body and causing intense pain.

I was asked if I would try Christian Science. A practitioner was recommended who, when asked, lovingly started absent treatment at once. I shall never forget the wonderful and uplifting peace and calm when, almost immediately, the intense pain stopped—never to return. Within two or three months the growth had entirely disappeared. From the first treatment the body functioned normally. I gave up all medicine, some of which had been taken daily for eighteen years; and I was soon eating and enjoying all food. The appendicitis and dyspepsia were healed very quickly. I started putting weight on the leg at once, and the third day I took off a splint. In a week I was walking with two sticks, in another ten days with only one stick, and in about four months easily with no support at all, going for a three-mile walk.

The knee joint had been X-rayed in a London hospital, and the plate showed it to be firmly ankylosed. In the first week of Christian Science treatment the joint began to change, and within a short time there was slight movement in the joint. The knee is gradually becoming normal. The leg was shorter than the other, and my body had become very crooked. But one day I found I was quite straight and the leg the normal length, although I do not know when this healing came. It was the same with my eyes, as within two weeks I took off my glasses and found that I could see perfectly, and read small print easily. My sight has been normal ever since. My throat and tonsils also became normal. Within less than a year I was doing all kinds of housework and gardening, and I enjoyed many long walks, one of fifteen miles.
