Safe with the Shepherd

Lord , Thou art here, and I am safe once more
Within Thy tender, all-protecting arm.
I was afraid, so could not find the door
Which led to where my fellows, free from harm,
Were resting fearless, trusting Thee alone.
Dark was the night and shrouded moon and stars;
Unkind the brambles were, and sharp each stone
I stumbled on. But now no terror mars
The peace I know with God. The morning breaks,
And in His loving care, my tremblings stilled,
I see night flee. Englightened, thought awakes!
Dear God, with trust my consciousness is filled,
And measureless the heavenly calm I feel.
My Shepherd leads; God's love alone is real.
