Some years ago, when I first began to study Christian Science...
Some years ago, when I first began to study Christian Science, I was so brokenhearted because of sorrow and many difficulties that I could not grasp the wonderful truth stated in this religion. One day, when I felt I could not go on any longer, I cried from my heart to God and asked what He wanted of me, and I got a glorious answer. When I began to read in Science and Health it was as if a veil had been torn away from my eyes, and in the Bible I found a wonderful treasure. I felt very happy and wanted to tell everyone what a costly pearl I had found, which belongs to all. Since then, through continued study of Christian Science, my aspect toward life has changed altogether, and my sorrow has been turned into joy, happiness, and peace. Now I am singing in my heart every day with thanksgiving to God for His great love to all His creation.
Through Christian Science the children have been healed of stomach trouble, tonsillitis, and influenza. This last illness was overcome within a day. Very annoying headaches, which I had had frequently since childhood, disappeared while I was studying Christian Science, without my noticing when the healing occurred. One of the boys had lost all his hair as an aftereffect of measles, which he had some time before I came into Christian Science. Several doctors had told me that the hair would never come back again, but after my taking up the study of Christian Science, to our great joy the hair began to grow, and when I showed the boy to one of the doctors, he said it was a miracle. At many other times I have had proof of God's loving care and all-power.
My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy for this wonderful Science, which is helping mankind all over the world, and I am ever grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for class instruction. With the Psalmist I say, "I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being."
