Many Mansions

When the beloved Master assured his faithful followers that in his Father's house were many mansions, he was evidently intending to remind them of their spiritual heritage. At this eventful period in their experience there seemed, according to the evidence of the physical senses, little hope or joy in their outlook. The world's hatred of Truth was soon to descend upon their dear Master, and they were to be deprived of his personal guidance. No doubt, therefore, their thoughts were filled with apprehension. But Jesus, as was his invariable custom, thought only of the great spiritual facts that he was to demonstrate; hence his positive declaration as to man's eternal harmonious abode.

The marvelous power wielded by Christ Jesus over sin, disease, and death was not generally utilized, but his teaching and the mighty works he performed were not lost. They were preparing human consciousness for the final revelation of Truth, which was to come through a spiritually-minded woman. Mrs. Eddy re-established the Christian religion on a scientifically demonstrable basis, which today is showing all who will heed, how to find the heavenly mansions of a broader, more satisfying sense of life.

There are few more tenderly compassionate words to be found in Scripture than those in the fourteenth chapter of John, the first two verses of which read: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."
