"Love one another"

Our Master, Christ Jesus, in all his teachings stressed love very strongly and pointedly. To love God supremely, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, were, he said, the two great commandments of the law.

Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, following in the Master's steps, also stressed the paramount importance of love. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" she says (p. 113), "The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love." Christian Science teaches us to love by revealing God as Love itself, and man as His image and likeness.

Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." Therefore love is the very hallmark of discipleship. Perhaps we have been satisfied with just getting on with people, not hating anyone and not particularly loving anyone. But this negative attitude is not sufficient.
